Keith has been working in mental health since 1990, and as a qualified practitioner since 2004. He is a Registered Canadian Art Therapist, a Registered Expressive Arts Therapist, a Registered Clinical Counsellor and an Approved Clinical Supervisor, holding a Masters Degree in Integrative Psychotherapy and a Clinical PhD in Expressive Arts Therapy. He is also a Certified Nature-Based Therapist, living and working as gently and respectfully as he can on the unceded ancestral lands of the Coast Salish Peoples (Vancouver, British Columbia). Keith is originally from England, having grown up on the edge of Wyre Forest in Worcestershire. One of his favourite pastimes is teaching Canadians how to say ‘Worcestershire’ properly.
As a therapist, Keith has worked extensively with people healing from trauma and associated issues such as addictions, eating disorders, and mood disorders. As an expressive arts therapist, he knows the power of healing that can happen through artmaking, storytelling, creative writing, music, and movement, and, as a nature-based therapist, he knows the deep changes that can happen by doing therapeutic work in relationship with the natural world.
Keith strives to offer a healing experience that is accessible, effective, sensitive, and responsive to the needs of each participant. He is committed to the ongoing process of decolonizing his practice, centering different ways of knowing and healing, and removing toxic notions of pathology and shame.
