Kallie will be offering inclusive and accessible counselling for all ages (6+) and abilities based on the Power to Be site, as well as the Saanich area and virtually. The Prospect Lake site hosts accessible facilities and trails to support both physical and cognitive barriers. Sessions may look like walking or rolling along trails, sitting by the lake or forest, or incorporating play, exploration and nature connection.
Kallie brings a playful yet calming energy into her counselling practice. She works from a relational, trauma informed, culturally aware, and client-centered approach. She wants this experience to work for your unique needs and will walk alongside you to navigate your therapeutic journey together. Kallie weaves in elements of narrative, somatic, and emotion-focused therapy, as well as practical strategies for daily challenges such as executive functioning. She incorporates both movement and presence into her sessions, and believes that the opportunity to slow down and deepen our connection with nature brings great meaning and perspective. She can also bring elements of plant knowledge, outdoor activities, and art into her practice. She works with children, teens, adults and families to navigate life transitions, greif, stress and anxiety, relationships, and challenges related to disability. She provides an understanding and gender-affirming space.
Kallie grounds her practice in increasing accessibility and belonging in nature. You may know her from her separate role at Power to Be, where she leads accessible nature access group programs for folks with physical and cognitive barriers. She specializes in supporting disability, and has worked with children, youth, and adults with ADHD, Autism, Down’s Syndrome, Intellectual disabilities, physical impairment and more. Kallie is a Registered Clinical Counsellor with a MA in Counselling Psychology. She has a background in support work, outdoor guiding, and behaviour therapy. Recently, she took part in an Adventure Therapy training in India, where she gained perspective on the important role of culture in the therapeutic relationship and that adventure looks different for everyone.
Kallie loves to spend time outdoors, whether that be hiking, paddling, painting, foraging, or finding a mindful sit spot, and delights in sharing this passion with others. She grew up in the prairies and lakes of Manitoba on Treaty 1 territory that is home of the Ojibwe, Cree, Dakota and Métis peoples. She now lives with gratitude on the the territories of the W̱SÁNEĆ peoples. She knows that starting counselling can feel intimidating, and will be there with you every step of the way.
